Welcome to the Brockenhurst Choral Society

Stephen Hope Appointed as our new Music Director

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of our new Music Director Stephen Hope.

Stephen was a chorister at Canterbury and studied Keyboard performance and conducting at Bristol University.

Since then, he has enjoyed a varied conducting career with choirs, orchestras and in music theatre. He has been MD of Basildon Choral Society since 1990 and formed the Sussex Chorale and conducted an annual concert at Arundel Cathedral with choir, orchestra and eminent soloists including Felicity Lott, Emma Kirkby, Willard White, Sarah Connolly and Roderick Williams. These concerts have been in aid of the Hospice movement.

We look forward to him taking the helm.

Sat Nov 15th - Autumn Term Concert

Our next concert will be held in St Saviour’s in Brockenhurst on Sat Nov 15th and will include the Vivaldi Gloria and Schubert Mass in G. Rehearsals start on Tuesday Sept 9th.

Sat Sept 13th 'Come and Sing'

Come and join our event in Brockenhurst Village Hall on Sept 13th. It is a chance for anyone who fancies singing with the Choir to “dip their toe in the water.” We will be singing Vivaldi's Gloria and Schubert’s Mass in G. There will be a run-through at 4pm on the day for participants and any supporters to come along to listen. We hope this will be a fun event for the choir, friends and potential new members.

Any questions, please email Alan Ford at brockchoralsoc@gmail.com

The Brockenhurst Choral Society is an amateur mixed choir based in Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest. We are enthusiastic, friendly and love singing. We perform a broad classical repertoire.

We hold two concerts a year (normally in May / June and December), and we regularly work with professional soloists and orchestras. Recent notable performances have included Charpentier Masse de Minuit, Bach St John Passion, Britten St Nicholas, Zimbe, Little Jazz Mass, the Mozart Requiem, Faure Requiem, Handel Coronation Anthems, Brahms Requiem, Handel Messiah, Vaughan Williams ‘A Sea Symphony’, Bach Mass in B minor, Goodall Requiem ‘Eternal Light’ and Haydn ‘The Creation’.

New members (all voice parts) are always welcome and we are particularly keen to recruit tenors and basses. Our new term starts on Sept 9th. If you would like to join us please get in touch - or come to our 'Come and sing' event. More details on our 'Join Us' page.
